Cobalt, cerulean, sapphire, periwinkle, I will keep going on request.

I began reading, No Plot No Problem, a guide to writing a novel in 30 days.  Although I plan using the book to encourage an epic Harry Potteresque novel, I also think it will help in the development of this blog.   The writer discusses how one of the biggest propellers to completing a novel is to have a deadline in cement.   A commitment to get so many words on the page each day, no matter if the words become a mass of incoherent dribble (spoiler alert).  The cool thing about this tactic is that even if the writing starts off similar to a snore fest of tedious characters meandering aimlessy in bad dialogue and cliche storylines, it has a tendency to transform into something.  Something above garbage, something that if worked with, molded and shaped and edited can turn into a lovely interweaving of plots and rich characters.  So that's the plan, let's see what happens.

There are other factors  that have pushed me to get back to the keyboard as well. I was watching Jeopardy last week.  Two notable things happened. 1. I absolutely crushed it in colors cateogory (really lilac and amethyst for the $1000 clue???) 2. One contestants job was blogger, nothing else. Just an average girl (actually below average in the realm of Jeopardy contestants, ouch going into final jeopardy with $600:()  Now keep in mind, I have not read her blog, maybe it is a very witty critique of avant garde films .  However, maybe it's not, maybe it's just her perspective on her everyday activities.  Anyway, I liked the title of blogger for one's occupation, so again, let's see what happens. On another note, who else likes to guess the Final Jeopardy clue by the category alone? I think it's fun, I appreciate getting the correct answer even more, and I tend to do better than actually listening to the clue.

So what's new in the land of Playcadia?
  • The game is developing quite nicely and should be available in the app store very soon!!!!
  • Zorro was reported for suspicious activity.  It was really only a matter of time.  He wears a hooded sweatshirt, fanny pack, and wanders aimlessly around parks testing the game. No citation was given.  On an unrelated note, Zorro was also mistaken for a lady.  As you can see from his picture, he has a full head of hair.  When viewed from the back, it could look like locks that have just been treated to a permanent at the local beauty salon.  My mom and he have an agreement that if he is mistaken for lady three times (Excuse me ma'am, madame where did you get your hair done?, how can I help you ladies...) , he must get a haircut.
  • C-Dogg is unhappy with his nickname.  He would prefer to be called CStax.  Thoughts? I like C-Dogg, but if our readers want CStax, we could change it (it would be allowed because there are currently no other CStax in the office)

So it has happened again, I have begun a blog and let it go by the wayside.
Much like the Friends episode where Monica makes fun of  Rachel's diary that she resolves to write in everyday, I have left the pages blank after the first entry.
I am sorry dear readers (yep, I am keeping that s on the end of readers, with optimistic visions of becoming the next ... I'll get back to that after I find out who the big bloggers are)

You must be dieing to know how Game Development is going!

Well lets just say, we have one dedicated software developer and two enthusiastic bumblers.

One member has written all the code, used complex algorithms for game logistics, and hashed out a huge portion of game philosophy.  I have created Playcadia out of otters and spent an entire day making balloons on inkscape.

My point being, I need to step up my game!  So what have I been doing besides creating adorable otters?  Taking the GRE (158 Quantitative, 165 Verbal, perhaps not good enough for Harvard but according to Bhavin at Magoosh a pretty alright score) attempting to take professional pictures of myself, subbing in a kindergarten class (OOOOOHHHH BBOOOOYYY!!), and applying to business schools.

Now that I am finished with all of the aformentioned jibber jabber and have vowed to never ever ever ever ever sub in kindergarten again, I will be back daily keeping you posted on what my dad is up to (The only thing better than watching 5 peeps and 1 guitar do the cover of Gotye's "Somebody that I Used to Know, is watching my dad watch the spoof of 5 peeps and 1 guitar doing the cover.  I regret to say I was not able to record it) how the game is coming along, and my latest inkscape masterpiece.

Happy Halloween!  Any good costume ideas this year?  I feel that Super Karen will likely make an appearance.

Prayers and thoughts to everyone who was affected by Sandy!!!!

Fourth time a charm?

Okay, I have not been the best blogger in the past. I have begun blogs in the past only to eventually throw up my hands up in despair, claiming someone/something will rue the day. But, I have learned my lesson!!!! Actually several lessons.

This is not going to be one of those blogs where the writer only posts one blog (if you're into that kind of blog see karenscrazygoonieadvbenture@blogspot.com). It's not going to be a whimsical blog that uses un pc terms, tells witty stories, and offers promotional events for its followers (If that blog sounds aaammmaazzing, and believe me it was ammmmmmazzziinng see dkscrazyebayadventure@blogspot.com, note adventure spelled correctly this time around) Lastly, it will not be some 27 year old's whiny rantings and outrageous claims of winning the Boston marathon (no stupid blog like that exists so, please do not go searching for one like that, it would be embarrasing to search for crap like that on the internet and you have more productive things to read and do!)

So what kind of blog is this?
It is a blog that will detail how three individuals began a game empire. How three individuals took a dream and made it a reality (yes, I agree, very inspirational, if you like that, I assure you there will be more).

This blog will have several goals:
1. It will describe in detail how an idea, a fleeting, passing idea was planted and perhaps grew into something tangible, it will perhaps become a roadmap for aspiring game developers.
2. It will generate buzz and gain feedback about what people are interested in so we can tailor our future games to what people are lacking. Too many people have a humdrum existence, they live without passion and excitement. Playcadia's mission is to end the monotony and bring play back into the lives of adults.
3. It will bring smiles, laughter, joy, and perhaps gift certificates to a pretty alright ebay store.

Please make note that the blog's goals may change as time passes. I will not limit this blog, myself or my readers, that is my promise to me and you (by you, I mean you Tonya and Dad!). Now that I think of it, I kind of lied in my opening paragraph. It turns out, I may not have learned any lessons from previous blog attempts, because there will be witty stories. The blog may even be somewhat whimsical.

Okay, so if you choose to follow this blog, what do you have in store for you? I have not developed the content yet but as chapter titles are delightful to write, I can fill you in on upcoming blog titles:

Otters are freaking adorable: An indepth look at design and picking a logo
It is not all fun and games in the gaming app developing business
Sometimes it is difficult to move your arms while walking
Bee shields, orangatan arms, whoa, whoa, whoa!!!!
And that's when I learned if you have an idea for an adult playground you better have some blueprints or someone else will. A tale of action.
Playcadia, Playlantis, Kramerica???
And that's when I learned if you are going to make a fortune, you might want to have a better plan than a metal detector and enthusiasm: Setting realisting goals.
Where the heck is our Daryl?
